Plumbing licensing
Plumbers in Louisiana hold master, journeyman or residential licenses from the State Plumbing Board, which moves into the State Licensing Board for Contractors on January 1, 2027. Commercial plumbing work over $10,000 also needs a contractor license with a plumbing subclassification from the State Licensing Board for Contractors.1, 2, 3
Heating and cooling licensing
In Louisiana, air conditioning, refrigeration and heating work with a project value of $10,000 or more needs a Mechanical license from the State Licensing Board for Contractors.4
Plumbing and mechanical codes
Louisiana's State Uniform Construction Code includes the 2021 International Plumbing Code with amendments.5 The same code includes the 2021 International Mechanical Code.6
